University Outreach

As a part of the ISKCON Toronto’s University Outreach initiative, the Bhakti Yoga Club (BYC) was constituted at the University of Toronto in November 2006, with an aim of propagating the philosophy of Bhakti Yoga amongst the students, staff and faculty at the University of Toronto. Events are organized twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. The audience partake in philosophical discussions, mantra meditation and vegetarian feast.

Over the past year, BYC has organized several talks & discussions on diverse topics relating to Krishna Consciousness, including Vedas, Vegetarianism, Karma¸ Who am I, The Science of the Self, Exams Stress, The Spiritual Answer, Search for Real Happiness, What is Bhakti Yoga?, Mantra Meditation, The GOD Debate, Progressive Living, and Introduction to Bhagavad-Gita. The response to-date has been excellent, with people with diverse backgrounds and interests attending these events.

BYC has also been an active participant in other inter-club/university-level events (e.g. International Day), through setting up displays, answering questions, and distributing books and Prasadam. The plan for the upcoming weeks includes many more sessions on topics relating to Science of Self-realization, as well as regular mantra meditation sessions, Bhagavad-Gita classes and vegetarian cooking classes.
